Home Textile Fabrics: Blankets, Curtains and Voile

Two different physics run through home textiles: bulk and heat retention in blankets, drape and light transmission in curtains.

The fleece family carries the blanket side: a brushed surface traps air, and the family scales from summer throws to winter blankets across the 180–400 g/m² window. Anti-pilling variants protect frequently washed pieces; double-faced fleece gives an unlined, two-face product.

Curtains and voile belong to warp knitting: raschel jacquard builds the decorative motif into the loop structure, and fine voile filters light at 60–110 g/m². Both families can be produced with GRS-scoped recycled (rPET) yarn.

Recommended fabrics

Polar Fleece

Polar fleece

180–400 g/m²

In this application
The blanket carrier: lofty, light, fast-drying brushed surface.
Composition
100% polyester (recycled rPET versions common).

Double-Faced (Double-Brushed) Fleece

Double-faced fleece

200–320 g/m²

In this application
Blankets and throws used on both faces; no lining needed.
Composition
100% polyester.

Anti-Pill Fleece

Anti-pill fleece

200–340 g/m²

In this application
Frequently washed blankets and children’s textiles: pilling-resistant.
Composition
100% polyester; standard fleece + an anti-pill (anti-pilling) surface finish.

Raschel Jacquard

Raschel jacquard

150–260 g/m²

In this application
Curtains and decorative panels: the motif is knitted in and will not unravel at the cut.
Composition
100% polyester (PES); matt or bright filament by warp-yarn quality, with a recycled (rPET) variant also possible.

Tulle / Fine Net

Tulle / fine net

60–110 g/m²

In this application
Fine voile and decorative layers: a light-filtering structure at 60–110 g/m².
Composition
100% polyester (PES); knitted from fine filament yarn, with no elastane for stretch (an optional elastane variant is a separate construction).

Eyelet Raschel

Eyelet warp knit

130–200 g/m²

In this application
Structured decorative panels and breathing lining layers.
Composition
100% polyester (PES); mechanical give. An elastane variant can be knitted when fit and recovery are required.

Frequently asked questions

Which weight for a blanket?

Summer throws and baby blankets run 180–250 g/m², all-season blankets 250–320 g/m², and heavy winter blankets sit in the 320–400 g/m² upper window. Hand and drape are confirmed on a sample.

Why raschel for curtain voile?

Raschel warp knitting builds the motif with the loop itself: it does not unravel at the cut, holds its dimensions and keeps its structure even at fine weights — which is why voile and jacquard curtains are made on this technology.

Can rPET be used in home textiles?

Yes — the blanket and curtain families can be produced with recycled polyester yarn, with the content claim documented through the GRS certificate chain. The rPET savings calculator shows the approximate gain.
