Manufacturing Programme

4-Way Stretch Fabric Manufacturer

Fersan Tekstil is a vertically integrated polyester knitted fabric manufacturer in Çorlu, Türkiye — yarn to knitting, HT dyeing to heat-setting, ~750 tonnes a month since 1982. In the elastane programme the elastane is fed with the knit itself: stretch and recovery are built into the fabric by structure, not by finish.

The “4-way stretch” label is used loosely in the market; we draw the line clearly. True 4-way — stretch in both width and length with snap-back recovery — is the job of elastane interlock in this programme: the double-bed structure works with elastane in both directions. Elastane jersey, piqué, rib and French terry deliver 2-way comfort stretch that runs mainly widthwise: they follow the body and hold their shape, but they are not built to stretch every way as a legging must.

We spell this distinction out for a commercial reason: pieces that stretch in every direction — leggings, sports bras, bodysuits — need 4-way; for fitted tees, stretch polos and slim sweats, 2-way is usually the right and more economical choice. The wrong structure comes back as returns and fit complaints; protecting the buyer from the wrong fabric is part of the quotation. We supply Western Europe, Russia and the CIS, and regularly produce to the test standards of European sports and apparel brands.

Elastane structures we manufacture in this programme

Polyester Stretch Interlock with Elastane

Stretch interlock + elastane

180–300 g/m²

In this application
The 4-way core of the programme: double-bed structure plus elastane for multi-direction stretch and snap-back — leggings, sports bras, bodysuits.
Composition
Polyester base + elastane; typically 5–12% (from comfort to high recovery). Higher levels belong to warp-knit power nets, not interlock.

Polyester Single Jersey with Elastane

Single jersey + elastane

160–250 g/m²

In this application
2-way comfort stretch on a light single-face base: body-following tees and active tops.
Composition
~92–95% polyester / 5–8% elastane (spandex); commonly 95/5 and 92/8.

Polyester Piqué with Elastane

Piqué + elastane

180–240 g/m²

In this application
A 2-way stretch textured face: the stretch-polo window that keeps its shape and collar.
Composition
~94–96% polyester / 4–6% elastane (spandex); most commonly ~5%.

Polyester Rib Knit with Elastane

Rib + elastane

190–300 g/m²

In this application
Strong crosswise stretch and recovery: the structure of collars, cuffs, waistbands and fitted pieces.
Composition
Polyester + elastane (spandex); typically 5–10% elastane (commonly 6–7%), the rest polyester.

Polyester French Terry with Elastane

Stretch French terry + elastane

210–320 g/m²

In this application
A 2-way stretch loop-back body: slim sweats and joggers with less bagging at knee and elbow.
Composition
~93–97% polyester / 3–7% elastane (spandex); most often ~95/5. Cotton-PES-elastane tri-blends also exist.

Your fabric development partner

We build the stretch-and-recovery target from the garment: elastane share, knit and heat-setting are chosen for your pattern, and elongation and recovery behaviour are test-reported after repeated washing — elastane’s heat sensitivity is managed inside our dyeing and setting window. Quotation requests are answered within 2 business days.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 2-way and 4-way stretch?

A 2-way fabric stretches mainly on one axis (usually widthwise); a 4-way fabric stretches in both width and length and recovers when released. In this programme true 4-way is the elastane interlock; the other elastane structures are comfort-stretch class — and we state that distinction just as plainly in the quotation.

Which garments genuinely need 4-way fabric?

Pieces stretched in every direction that must recover: leggings, sports bras, bodysuits, compression tops. For fitted tees, polos and sweats, 2-way elastane structures are usually sufficient and better costed.

How do you verify that the stretch lasts?

Elongation and recovery are test-reported after repeated washing; since elastane is heat-sensitive, dyeing and setting temperatures are kept within its window. The report joins your shipment file.

What is the minimum order (MOQ) for elastane fabrics?

MOQ is 500–1,000 kg per colour; the exact figure is confirmed with your quotation. Trial volumes during development are discussed case by case.

What are your lead time and delivery terms?

Typical lead time is 3–4 weeks from order confirmation to dispatch; we work EXW, FOB or DAP. Quotation requests are answered within 2 business days.
