French Terry Fabric Manufacturer

Fersan Tekstil is a vertically integrated polyester knitted fabric manufacturer in Çorlu, Türkiye, knitting, dyeing and brushing its French terry programme from its own texturised filament — ~750 tonnes a month since 1982.

French terry is technically a loop-back knit: a fine ground yarn builds the flat, print-friendly face while a thicker loop yarn forms the uncut loops on the reverse. This is the classic body of sweatshirts, hoodies and joggers. Our programme runs from plain French terry to a brushed winter version, an elastane variant for slim cuts, a heathered melange look, and terry jersey at the light end of the window.

We produce for brands and garment makers who repeat their sweat programmes season after season, across Western Europe, Russia and the CIS, and routinely produce to the test standards of European sports and apparel brands. The ordering terms below are the same figures we quote.

Polyester French Terry

In this application: The backbone of the programme: flat print face plus looped inside — the standard body of sweatshirts and joggers.
Composition: 100% polyester (fine ground + ~2× thicker loop yarn); cotton-PES is common in the market, pure/high-PES applies for a polyester specialist.

Brushed (Fleece-Backed) Polyester French Terry

Brushed-back French terry

240–360 g/m²

In this application: The brushed-back version: winter softness and warmth without much added weight.
Composition: 100% polyester; the thick loop yarn on the reverse is brushed/napped. Cotton-PES brushed terry is also common.

Polyester French Terry with Elastane

Stretch French terry + elastane

210–320 g/m²

In this application: Stretch and recovery from its elastane share — the slim-fit hoodie and athleisure window.
Composition: ~93–97% polyester / 3–7% elastane (spandex); most often ~95/5. Cotton-PES-elastane tri-blends also exist.

Melange (heather) French terry

In this application: A heathered look from mixed-colour yarn; hides small stains and wear.
Composition: 100% polyester melange yarn (a blend of differently coloured fibres → heathered); grey melange is most common. Cotton-PES melange also exists.

Your fabric development partner

We build your sweat programme from the fabric side: loop density, brushing depth and elastane share are adapted to your block, the melange ratio is set in the yarn; colours are approved via lab-dip, and dimensional stability and pilling are test-reported per order. What is your minimum order (MOQ) for French terry?

We work with 500–1,000 kg per colour; the exact figure is confirmed with your quotation per variant. For melange we recommend sharing your colour count early, as yarn lots are planned ahead.

What are your lead time and delivery terms?

Typical lead time is 3–4 weeks from order confirmation to dispatch, with brushing time included in that window for brushed versions. We ship EXW, FOB or DAP; quotation requests are answered within 2 business days.

Should I pick brushed or unbrushed for my sweat programme?

Unbrushed French terry breathes through its looped inside and works in mid-season; in the brushed version the loops are raised into a fleece-like warm inside — the winter choice. Running both in the same block, split across the season, is common practice.

How do you keep melange tone consistent lot to lot?

In melange the colour comes from the heathered yarn rather than the dyebath, so we manage tone continuity through yarn-lot planning and recommend cutting one style within one lot. Lot approval is done on a sample.
